Masturbating Barbie's

September 22nd 2006 01:52
Pleasuring oneself is a topic women's magazines seem to be preoccupied with, and based on sales figures, it also would appear to be a topic women enjoy reading about. There are articles on finding one's G spot that at times make you feel like you need a degree on your vagina to master! Though there are pages on masturbation in women's magazines, there is still somewhat of a stigma to female self stimulation. The overly forward fashion the writers use to discuss female masturbation at times make it seem like a joke, that women need to be trained to do these things…perhaps even the allusion then that the practice is unnatural, despite that in the same breath they tell you at exactly what angle you need to pass the clitoral wall to find the rough patch of skin...they say that it's the most natural thing in the world. Is this yet another way of allowing women to master their sexual power, without a man, so that they too may gain the only power on offer to the gender? The phallic is a symbol of power, so then if we create a phantom phallic we gain the power. Why then are women being defined by men…women are what men are not. This is similar to powerful women wearing power suits to work and not a feminine floral number; women have to conform to the masculine stereotypes and present male characteristics to gain power even outside the bedroom. Do you think a woman that masturbates is more or less powerful than one that does not?

Didn't quite follow your post, but in reply the final question: I think she's more powerful.

Women of the world, masturbate! Take charge of your sexuality! What the hell do you need men for anyway?

I would hesitate to "grasp" anything here since it kinda has a Gloria "I hate men" theme working...but I'm a dolt so, let's play...whoops...discuss. I think her/his point is that sexuality and how women fit into that influences their socioeconomic role. Now to her question as to whether masturbating women get off...whoops...get more in the corporate world than those who don't I gotta say maybe......for all the typical reasons...

enjoy

I love your post - To you last question: I'm unsure. We shouldn't feel we have to do so to be powerful. Perhaps being able to satisfy ourselves gives us a sense of confidence within, resulting in the feeling of power. Then again, isn't overcoming the desire also a sense power? Keep up the great work!!
