Why don't Women's Magazines have a job section? Every other aspect of a woman's (w)ife seems to be covered, although inadequately. What's the point of dressing successful if you're not? I'm going through a bit of a hard time at the moment…mainly because I have a lot of time on my hands after quitting my job. What I want to know is why is it that I can easily find out what brand and colour foundation best suits my skin type but I cant find a job in the same magazine that tells me what to eat, what to wear, where to holiday, what to do and how to wear my hair. Do women not need to concern themselves with work? Isn't this just another process of culturing women into focusing on the things that should interest and concern them…unless work is linked to high-wasted skirts women's magazines wont publish it. Some could argue that a woman's magazine isn't the place for that…why not? Is the corporate world still a man's domain wherein femininity simply cannot be associated with big business? Where is the female corporate director wearing florals? I'm not saying that women should wear florals, I'm just saying that women should be able to be feminine and still be taken seriously. A female power suit is not necessarily empowering for women. I want a career and a curler, is that a crime?

Is it, that as women, we are sick and tired of competing in a society where testosterone in the board room has driven us absolutely insane and we need a moment or two of frivolity to keep our sanity. Or is it that at the end of the day, we are just sick and tired on banging our head on the glass ceiling, that the majority of women will never be able to break through. Not because they are incapable, but quite the opposite, men are frightened to relinquish the power because deep down many of them know that women are just as capable if not more capable to do the same job.
At the end of the day, I believe most women end up just not wanting to play that game and want to get on with life. After all, isn't it men that find it so difficult to adjust to retirement, mainly because their work is their life!!!
